Hanging Bike Rack for Bonnie (pt.1)

Bonnie requested I craft wall hanging bike racks for she and her partner, who were displaced by the recent tornado.

The tornado that tore through Tuscaloosa one month ago destroyed many beautiful old oak trees.  I decided to gather wood from some of the fallen trees and incorporate that wood into the rack.

While searching for wood it was important for me to stay away from the areas of destruction – that is not what this project is about.  Instead, I searched for wood around the University of Alabama campus, an area on the edge of the path, but relatively unharmed.

I found the perfect tree in front of the Canterbury Episcopal Church.
